Trump and Musk are trying to privatize social security

Donald Trump and Elon Musk are making a concerted effort to destroy the Social Security program and replace it with a privatized program that would remove the safety net for middle and lower income Americans in order to financially benefit the wealthiest among us. They are attempting to do this in 4 steps:

• Step 1: Remove or replace Inspectors General who monitor the Social Security program with Trump-Musk cronies who are biased in favor of privatization.

• Step 2: Reduce the administrative staff who support Social Security in a technical capacity or who interface with those who are Social Security recipients.

• Step 3: Let the first two actions ferment for a suitable time.

• Step 4: When complaints from program recipients reach an appropriate level, begin offering the alternative of privatization, blaming the Social Security program for all the negative effects of reckless downsizing.

Trump and his corrupt ax-man Musk are just beginning Step 3. Once complaints of slow service and delayed payments get frequent enough, Step 4 will begin. Then, one or more selected wealthy oligarchs will be offered up to “solve the problem” and get their mitts on the 2 plus trillion dollars in the Social Security fund.

Trump and Musk and the spineless Republicans in the U.S. Senate and House must not be allowed to get away with this attempted theft. Public pressure is essential. Please call your Congressperson and Senators and express strong support for Social Security and strong opposition to privatization of this essential program.
